Managed Funds

Investment funds managed professionally by an expert fund manager who invests in a variety of investments.

The actual type and mix of investments within the fund depends on a predetermined mandate communicated by the Fund Manager. With managed funds, your money is pooled together with that of other investors to create a single strong fund.

Model Portfolios

 A series of investment solutions that can be characterised by a consistent risk profile, asset allocation and in most cases fund selection.

Individual Fund Selection

A fund selection process which incorporates a variety of different research resources to select a shortlist of funds in each of the asset classes used to build the portfolios.

Individual fund selection provides the most flexibility, however it generally incurs the greatest costs.  Conversely, managed funds have more limited flexibility, but are generally very cost effective in management terms.

Model portfolios provide a balance between these two options.

The Right Balance

Achieving the right balance between flexibility and cost is a crucial part of our service, and typically we advise:

   Up to £25,000            – invest in managed funds

   £25,000 to £75,000   – invest in model portfolios

   Over £75,000              – invest in model portfolios and/or

individual fund selection
